MUCHA MUSEUM

Description

Essentials about the Mucha Museum in brief

The Mucha Museum is dedicated to the life and work of the famous Czech Art Nouveau painter Alfons Mucha. Housed in the baroque building of the Palais Kaunitz, the small museum exhibits a selection of around 100 works by Mucha, including oil paintings, drawings, statues and photographs, but also personal objects of the Czech painter, thus providing a comprehensive overview of Mucha’s artistic work.

The exhibition of the Mucha Museum

The exhibition begins with the so-called “Panneaux Décoratifs,” the works that made Mucha famous. These are the typical Art Nouveau posters created around the turn of the century, including Mucha’s famous designs for the legendary Parisian actress Sarah Bernhardt. Furthermore, one can gain insight into the handbook for artisans written by Mucha, as well as oil paintings, model photos, sketches, notes and pastels. The exhibition ends with a faithful replica of Mucha’s studio with furniture and photographs of his family.
