LYNN CANYON PARK

Description

Essentials about Lynn Canyon Park in brief

Lynn Canyon Park is one of the most beautiful and popular hiking and walking areas around Vancouver. Located in the north of North Vancouver on the slopes of the North Shore Mountains, the approximately 250-hectare park offers its visitors a variety of hiking trails of different lengths and difficulty levels that lead through the beautiful unspoiled nature of the coastal rainforest of British Columbia.

Lynn Canyon Bridge

Lynn Canyon Park is best known for the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, a 48-meter free-swinging cable bridge for pedestrians that crosses the valley floor at a height of about 50 meters. It consists of steel cables anchored in the ground and wooden planks, and is often compared to the (more famous) Capilano Suspension Bridge, which is only a short distance away. Unlike the Capilano Bridge, however, the Lynn Canyon Bridge is free to cross.

Hiking in Lynn Canyon Park

The hiking trails of Lynn Canyon Park lead through the beautiful untouched nature of the coastal rainforest of British Columbia. A popular stop on a hike, besides the Suspension Bridge, is the so-called 30 Foot Pool, located only about ten minutes upstream from the bridge. The emerald green, crystal clear water of the pool is a popular photo motif. If you have thick skin, you can go for a swim in the water – refreshment is guaranteed.

Another popular hiking destination is Twin Falls, located about 20 minutes downstream from the Suspension Bridge, which can also be crossed via a wooden bridge. And for those who like to learn more detailed information about the nature of Lynn Canyon, a visit to the Lynn Canyon Ecology Center is not to be missed. Informative and interactive displays and videos showcase the flora and fauna of the canyon. And if you’re hungry and thirsty after so much nature, you can grab a bite to eat right next to the Ecology Center at the Lynn Canyon Café.

By the way, if the hiking trails in Lynn Canyon Park are too short for you, you can also set out on longer tours from here. Longer trails lead to Lynn Headwaters Regional Park to the north, Inter River Park to the south and Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve to the east.
