Essentials about Tibidabo in brief

The 512 meter high Tibidabo is, together with Montjuïc, one of the two local mountains of Barcelona. It is the highest peak of the Serra de Collserola mountain range in the northwest of the city. Accordingly, from Tibidabo you can enjoy an incomparably good view over the entire urban area of Barcelona. Besides the great view, the church Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor and the nostalgic Tibidabo Amusement Park are also reasons to visit Tibidaco. Tibidabo can be reached by both a road and a funicular, the Funicular de Tibidabo.

In normal weather, Tibidabo is clearly visible from the entire city area of Barcelona. From the top you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the city. Tibidabo is home to the Catholic church Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor, Tibidabo Amusement Park, a nostalgic amusement park, and the 288-meter high television tower Torre de Collserola.

The name “Tibidabo”

The name of the mountain comes from a Latin Bible quotation in connection with the temptation of Jesus by the devil. According to Matthew 4:8, the devil took Jesus “to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world…”. Then (Matthew 4:9) he offered Jesus, “…haec omnia tibi dabo si cadens adoraveris me.” (“… I will give you all these things if you will bow down before me and worship me.”).
