Essentials about the Alpenzoo Innsbruck in brief
The Alpenzoo Innsbruck is one of the highlights of the city of Innsbruck and not only worth a visit for animal lovers. Located 750 metres above sea level, the Alpenzoo is one of the highest zoos in Europe. On approximately four hectares, the theme zoo’s unique collection of 150 animal species with around 2,000 animals provides a great overview of alpine wildlife. A visit to the Alpenzoo is a special experience at any time of the year. Even in winter almost all animal species can be seen, given that only marmots, reptiles and amphibians are in hibernation during the cold season. In addition to the enclosures with alpine animal species, the zoo also has a show farm with old Tyrolean livestock breeds.
