Essentials about the Nordkette Cable Car in brief

The Nordkette Cable Car (Nordkettenbahn) is an absolute highlight for mountain fans with no fear of heights. It consists of two aerial cable car sections, which connect the Hungerburg first with the Seegrube (at 1,905 meters altitude) and subsequently with the Hafelekar mountain station (at 2,269 meters altitude). The Hungerburg can be reached with the Hungerburgbahn from the city center. Insofar, the trip with the three cable cars up to the Hafelekar is a real experience and rewards you with magnificent views of Innsbruck and the Tyrolean mountains.

Sports on the Nordkette

Both the Seegrube and the Hafelekar are good starting points for hikes on the Nordkette and in the Karwendel. At the Hafelekar is the entrance to the Innsbrucker Klettersteig (Innsbruck Via Ferrata) and from the Seegrube to the Hungerburg runs the Nordkette-Singletrail, one of the most demanding freeride mountain biking routes in Europe. In winter, the cable car together with two chair lifts forms a small winter sports area. And if you’re too lazy for hiking, mountain biking or skiing, you can of course take the cable car downhill again.
