AUGARTEN

Description

Essentials about the Augarten in brief

With an area of over 50 hectares, the Augarten, located in the north of Vienna’s city center, is one of the largest parks and the oldest baroque garden complex in the city of Vienna. In addition to a well-kept parterre garden with elaborate floral landscapes, the French-style complex also offers an extensive area crisscrossed by shady avenues, providing park visitors with space for recreation but also for sporting activities.

Sights and attractions in the Augarten

Porcelain collectors know the Augarten primarily because of its porcelain manufactory of the same name, which is located in Augarten Palace. In addition, the Augarten Palace is home to the Vienna Boys’ Choir (Wiener Sängerknaben) and also MuTh, the concert hall of the Sängerknaben, and a hotspot for classical music, rock and jazz concerts, theater performances and other performances. Historic relics visible from afar are the two tall flak towers from World War II.
