Details on the Parlamentarium
The Parlamentarium opened in 2011 after four years of planning and construction. With a total area of almost 3,000 square meters, it is the largest visitor center of a parliament in Europe. It is also the first exhibition in Europe to be designed in all 24 official languages of the European Union.
The exhibition in the Parlamentarium is a multimedia installation with many interactive elements, through which visitors can learn everything they need to know about the work, importance, functioning and Members of the European Parliament. The center of the exhibition is the United in Diversity room with a huge 3D LED installation on the ceiling. Visitors can take a virtual journey through Europe on a walk-through map, where more than 100 stories illustrate the continent’s cultural diversity. In addition, there is a 360° panoramic film on the happenings in the European Parliament and in the so-called Tunnel of Voices visitors can discover multilingualism as a special cultural heritage of Europe.
