Anyone interested in Vancouver’s urban history should head to the Museum of Vancouver. It is located close to the city center in Vanier Park between Kitsilano Beach and Granville Island. The museum is housed in a building complex with the astronomy museum H. R. MacMillan Space Centre. Incidentally, the Museum of Vancouver is the largest municipal museum in Canada and the oldest museum in Vancouver (founded in 1894). The museum features exhibitions on the history of the city, the cultural achievements of the aboriginal peoples and the Pacific Rim countries, as well as exhibitions on contemporary history.

On display at the Museum of Vancouver are permanent and traveling exhibits on the history of the city, the cultural achievements of the aboriginal peoples and the Pacific Rim countries, as well as exhibits on contemporary history. Over the years, the museum collected thousands of items acquired from residents of the city. These include furniture and other furnishings, streetlights, mailboxes, industrial and commercial equipment, clothing, toys, paintings, neon signs, and more.

In addition to exhibits related to the city of Vancouver, the museum also owns a large collection of Asian antiques and artifacts from East and Southeast Asia. In addition, the Museum of Vancouver presents many objects from the First Nations people living in Western Canada. Last but not least, the museum is even in possession of a collection of Egyptian exhibits, including a human mummy and mummified crocodiles, falcons and cats.
