AVENUE OF STARS

Description

Essentials about the Avenue of Stars in brief

Hong Kong is also known as the “Hollywood of the East” due to its vibrant film industry. So it is only logical that the film metropolis Hong Kong has its own version of the world-famous Walk of Fame in Los Angeles with the Avenue of Stars.

The movie stars on the Avenue of Stars

The Avenue of Stars is a 450 meter long waterfront promenade at Victoria Harbour in the district of Tsim Sha Tsui, where the biggest stars of the Hong Kong film scene have been immortalized with a golden star and partly with handprints in the ground. Here you can find world stars like Jet Li, Jackie Chan, John Woo and Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee and some other Asian film stars are honored with their own sculptures on the Avenue of Stars, because the promenade was built only in 2004 (and thus after their death).

The view from the Avenue of Stars

For those who are not so enthusiastic about martial arts or the Chinese film scene in general, a walk along the Avenue of Stars is still recommended, if only for the magnificent view of the Hong Kong Island skyline. After a renovation, the Avenue of Stars was reopened at the beginning of 2019.
