Covering an area of 7,000 square meters, the museum presents the interesting and eventful history of Hong Kong with over 4,000 exhibits, 750 graphics and many multimedia presentations. The Hong Kong Museum of History is located next to the Hong Kong Science Museum in the Tsim Sha Tsui district.

The exhibitions of the Hong Kong Museum of History

The permanent exhibition covers Hong Kong’s natural history, archaeology, ethnography and local history. The time span of the historical presentation ranges from the geological formation of Hong Kong about 400 million years ago to the reunification of Hong Kong with the People’s Republic of China in 1997. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the Hong Kong Museum of History regularly presents changing themes in temporary special exhibitions. It is possible to access virtual exhibitions via the museum’s website.
