One of the most popular and certainly the most beautiful viewpoints is Lion Rock, which is, so to speak, the local mountain of Hong Kong. The 495 meter high mountain is located in the middle of the city between Kowloon and the New Territorities and forms the natural border between the two areas.

The ascent to Lion Rock

Lion Rock owes its name to its shape, which is reminiscent of a crouching lion. A hiking trail about three kilometers long leads up the hill. Along the way and especially from the summit, hikers are rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of Kowloon, Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island to the south and the New Territories to the north. On clear days, you can even see Lantau Island to the west.
