TAI LONG WAN

Description

Essentials about Tai Long Wan in brief

What many travelers do not know is that Hong Kong is a metropolis abundant with beaches. Some of the most beautiful and tranquil are located in Tai Long Wan (Big Waves Bay) at the eastern end of the Sai Kung Peninsula. In the bay, on four beautiful sandy beaches (Sai Wan, Ham Tin, Tai Wan and Tung Wan) with crystal clear water, you can spend a dreamy day sunbathing, swimming and chilling out in almost complete solitude. Tai Long Wan is especially popular with surfers, as the Big Waves Bay lives up to its name. In the bay you can ride the best waves in all of Hong Kong.

Getting to Tai Long Wan

With so many plus points, there must also be a minus point, and that is the access. The beaches of Tai Long Wan are among the most remote and difficult to reach in Hong Kong. There is no direct road connection, which is why you have the choice between walking or taking a boat. Those who plan to make their way to the beaches on foot should know that the hike from the nearest road takes a good 90 minutes. However, the beautiful scenery along the way compensates for the effort. For those who are deterred by the long walk, there is the alternative of chartering a boat at Sai Kung Pier. In any case, you should arrange a specific pick-up time with the boat rental companies, as there is no cell phone network on the beaches of Tai Long Wan. Spontaneous calling does not work.

Eating and drinking at Tai Long Wan

Likewise, food for a trip to Tai Long Wan should be planned in advance. This is because Ham Tin Beach is the only one of the four beaches where there are two modest restaurants. Self-catering is the order of the day at all the other beaches.
