MARKK

Description

Essentials about the MARKK in brief

The Museum am Rothenbaum – Kulturen und Künste der Welt (mostly briefly called MARKK) in Hamburg is not only one of the largest ethnological collections in Germany, but also one of the largest ethnological museums in Europe. If you are interested in other cultures, you will find an incredible variety of ethnological objects here, ranging from Egyptian Pharaohs’ tombs to masks from the South Seas.

Events at the MARKK

The MARKK sees itself not only as an exhibition space, but also as a meeting place for people of all cultures. Annually recurring festivals such as the Lateinamerikafestival (Latin America Festival), der Markt der Völker (People’s Market), das Japanische Mädchenfest (Japanese Girls’ Festival), der Mexikanische Totentag (Mexican Death Day) and many more invite you to celebrate together and experience the rich traditions of other cultures. In addition to the special exhibitions, theme days, lectures and guided tours are offered.
