BAGATTI VALSECCHI MUSEUM

Description

Essentials about the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in brief

The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum is one of Milan’s more unusual museums. The wealthy Bagatti Valsecchi brothers were avid collectors throughout their lives, especially of Renaissance art. In their house in the center of Milan, you fulfilled the dream of an extensive Renaissance collection, which includes paintings, wood carvings, furniture, weapons, armor, ceramics, instruments, glassware, wallpaper and art objects made of metal, gold and ivory.

The history of the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum

The brothers Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi studied law, but had the great privilege of never having to work because of their wealth. This allowed them to devote all their time to their muse, which was collecting Renaissance works of art. In their apartments in a 19th century house, they gathered a veritable treasure trove of artifacts from the 14th and 15th centuries. The house has been open to the public since 1994. In 17 gallery rooms, whose furnishings date back to the 19th century, visitors can view the rich Bagatti Valsecchi collection.
