Essentials about Museo Correr in brief

The Museo Correr is the municipal museum of Venice. It is housed in the Napoleonic wing of the Procuraties in Piazza San Marco, opposite St. Mark’s Basilica. The museum is named after the Venetian Teodoro Correr, who left his valuable collection of books, manuscripts, paintings and decorative arts antiquities to the city.

The exhibition in Museo Correr

The Museo Correr is divided into two parts. In one part, visitors get to see historical objects of the city of Venice, such as costumes and pageantry, maps and documents on maritime history, coins and seals, city views and documents, technical equipment and weapons. The collection of Venetian ceramics is also outstanding. The second part of the museum consists of a gallery with paintings and vedute by masters such as Schiavone, Tintoretto and Titian, among others.
