Essentials about the Museum of Military History in brief
History and military enthusiasts can’t miss a visit to the Museum of Military History in Vienna. The museum documents the history of the Austrian military with an incredible variety of exhibits, from armor, flags and uniforms to tanks, aircraft and weapons of all types, as well as paintings, photographs and models.
The building of the Museum of Military History
The architecturally exceptional museum building in predominantly Moorish-Byzantine and neo-Gothic style forms the heart of the Vienna Arsenal, a military building complex formerly consisting of over 70 buildings. Opened in 1856, the Museum of Military History is the oldest museum building planned and executed as such in Austria.
