NATIONAL ORCHID GARDEN

Description

Essentials about the National Orchid Garden in brief

The orchid is the national flower of Singapore. So it is hardly surprising that Singapore also has its own orchid garden. And with a clear conscience one can say that the National Orchid Garden is not only something for orchid lovers, but will inspire every Singaporean traveler. Not only is it a feast for the eyes, but it is also part of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the only tropical garden in the world to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The grounds of the National Orchid Garden

The National Orchid Garden is located on the highest elevation within the botanical garden. Visitors can admire the splendor of some 60,000 orchids from 1,000 different species and about 2,000 hybrids on an area of about three hectares.

The Orchid Gardens’ design concept follows a seasonal color approach; the garden is therefore divided into four zones. In the spring zone, bright colors such as gold, yellow and cream predominate. The summer zone impresses with bold colors such as red or pink. In the autumn zone, orchids grow with muted colors. And in the winter zone, the flowers have shades of white and blue.
