Dubai is not exactly known for its simplicity and modesty, certainly not in architectural terms. And since January 1, 2018, Dubai has been enriched by an architectural highlight in which the city on the Persian Gulf has once again outdone itself – or rather “framed” itself. The Dubai Frame is not just any building, but the world’s largest picture frame, so to speak, which transforms the city into a painting.

How to imagine it? Quite simple: The structure consists of two 150-meter-high towers connected at the bottom by a base building and at the top by a 93-meter-long bridge, thus resembling the shape of a picture frame. And as befits Dubai as a city of superlatives, the Dubai Frame has a cladding of gold and stainless steel. The purpose of a picture frame is to give the viewer a certain perspective. The Dubai Frame achieves this in an exceptional way, in that by looking through the frame, you either see the new, modern Dubai with its countless skyscrapers around the Burj Khalifa or, in the other direction, you look at the old, traditional Dubai around the Dubai Creek.

In the base building of the Dubai Frame there is a museum showing the development of Dubai from a small, insignificant fishing village to a huge, well-known world metropolis. Those who are not afraid of heights should make their way to the top. Even the ride in one of the panoramic elevators is an experience, during which you can enjoy a fantastic view of the city. Once at the top, visitors to the Dubai Frame are in for a dizzying experience. This is because a 25-square-meter section of the 93-meter-long transverse bridge is glazed. If you dare, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Zabeel Park below.
