Essentials about the Saeed Al Maktoum House in brief

Anyone interested in the history of Dubai and its ruling family should make their way to the Saeed Al Maktoum House. It is located in the historic Al Shindagha district, near the mouth of Dubai Creek, and is one of the oldest buildings in the city. The house was once the official residence of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum, the former ruler of Dubai (1912 – 1958) and grandfather of the current Emir, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Dubai’s current ruler played behind these walls as a young boy.

The exhibition in Saeed Al Maktoum House

Built in 1896, the Saeed Al Maktoum House is now a museum and houses a collection of historic photographs, coins, stamps and documents that provide fascinating insights into the history of Dubai and the ruling Al Maktoum family. The naturally cooling wind towers offer a glimpse into Dubai’s traditional architecture. By the way, from the top floor you have a great view of the Dubai skyline. Looking at the modern buildings and the historic Saeed Al Maktoum House at your feet, you almost get the impression of being on a journey through time.
