The London Eye is an absolute must-see attraction when visiting London and has become one of the landmarks of the British capital. The view from the London Eye

135 meters high, the London Eye is a real eye-catcher in the middle of central London, located directly on the Thames and opposite Westminster Palace and Big Ben. When it opened in 2000, the Eye was the largest Ferris wheel in the world (but has since been surpassed by several others) and also the highest vantage point in London (now held by the observation deck on the skyscraper The Shard). Originally, the London Eye was only to operate for a period of about five years. However, in view of the great popularity of the new London attraction, this plan was scrapped.

The ride with the London Eye

The London Eye has 32 floor-to-ceiling glass and air-conditioned gondolas, each of which can seat up to 30 people. Since the gondolas are located outside the wheel, the Eye provides an almost unrestricted view. The London Eye takes about 30 minutes to complete one turn. During this time, passengers enjoy a phenomenal view of London and can see up to 40 kilometers in ideal visibility conditions.
