DOWNTOWN SANTA MONICA

Description

Essentials about Downtown Santa Monica in brief

Santa Monica is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and popular suburbs of Los Angeles. Picturesquely situated on the coast of the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica Bay, Santa Monica State Beach is one of LA’s most popular beaches. Santa Monica’s landmark is also located on the waterfront: Santa Monica Pier, which has existed since the 1920s and today houses a small amusement park as well as some restaurants and stores. However, Santa Monica is not only an excellent place for swimming, sunbathing, surfing and general fun, but also for excellent shopping.

Third Street Promenade

Only a stone’s throw away from Santa Monica Pier is Downtown Santa Monica with the so-called “Third Street Promenade”. This is one of the few pedestrian zones in Los Angeles. The shopping area of Third Street Promenade extends over three blocks and is a paradise for all shopaholics. There is probably no other place in LA where shopping is as relaxed as here. During the day and especially in the evening hours, many street performers entertain the shoppers and visitors in Downtown Santa Monica. The end of Third Street Promenade in the south is the Santa Monica Place shopping center designed by star architect Frank Gehry.
