SANTA MONICA STATE BEACH

Description

Esentials about Santa Monica State Beach in brief

Baywatch fans will know this beach; after all, the series about the handsome lifeguards was also filmed at Santa Monica State Beach. No visit to Los Angeles is complete without spending at least a few hours at the legendary Santa Monica beach. There’s so much to experience here that it’s hard to decide what to do first: Swim, surf or standup paddle in the Pacific; sunbathe, build sandcastles or play beach volleyball on the beach; walk, jog or inline skate on the boardwalks; play chess, bodybuild or just watch the people – and, of course, visit the legendary Santa Monica Pier.

The location of Santa Monica State Beach

Santa Monica State Beach stretches for about 5.5 kilometers along Santa Monica in the west of Los Angeles. The beach is divided by the legendary Santa Monica Pier into a northern and a southern part. The northern part is a bit quieter, the southern part is a bit livelier. There are a number of playgrounds for the younger beachgoers and many sports facilities for the older beachgoers.

The attractions at Monica State Beach

Muscle Beach

In the southern park of Santa Monica State Beach is a quintessentially Californian institution, namely the original Muscle Beach. It was from here that the bodybuilding fitness craze took off and within a short time flooded the entire country. Even today, you can still watch many real and some wannabe bodybuilders steeling their muscles on Muscle Beach.

Marvin Braude Coastal Bike Trail and the Ocean Front Walk

A trip to Santa Monica State Beach is also worthwhile for cyclists and skaters, because the Marvin Braude Coastal Bike Trail runs along the beach for 35 kilometers from Will Rogers State Beach in the north to Torrance County Beach in the south. And walkers can make their rounds on the Ocean Front Walk undisturbed by cyclists and skaters.

Santa Monica Pier

And of course, no visit to Santa Monica States Beach should end without visiting the legendary Santa Monica Pier. The pier offers its visitors an incredible range of attractions, from an amusement park to an aquarium and a variety of bars and restaurants.
