Pier 39 in Fisherman’s Wharf is one of San Francisco’s most popular tourist attractions. The pier is a hodgepodge of restaurants, stores and souvenir stores, amusement rides and the Aquarium of the Bay. And then, in addition to the commercial establishments, there is a special, animal attraction on Pier 39, and that is a colony of California sea lions that settled here in the winter of 1989 and (except for brief interruptions) have remained to this day. This mix of entertainment and animals makes Pier 39 one of the most popular destinations in San Francisco, especially among families with children. By the way, from the pier you also have a great view of Angel Island and Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge.
