The collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art today comprises more than 33,000 works of painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, design and media art. From 2013 to 2016, the museum underwent a major renovation and was expanded with an additional wing to display the art collection provided by Donald G. Fisher (the founder of the fashion chain GAP) and his wife. Today, SFMOMA has 16,000 square feet of exhibition space, making it one of the largest museums in the United States and one of the largest modern art museums in the world.
